Scope

This policy applies only to the HomePairs iOS and iPadOS app. HomePairs is provided by Here Comes Supper, a DBA of Beat Breakdown LLC.

Apple Home access

With your permission, HomePairs uses Apple’s HomeKit framework to inspect compatible homes, accessories, services, groups, and automations; show their current state; and carry out changes you request, such as creating, repairing, enabling, disabling, or removing sync automations and changing accessory state.

This information is processed on your device. HomePairs does not upload your HomeKit names, identifiers, states, or automation details to Here Comes Supper or PostHog. Changes you make are saved to your Apple Home through HomeKit and may sync through Apple’s services under your Apple Account settings and Apple’s privacy policy.

Product analytics

HomePairs uses PostHog to understand whether the app is working and which features are useful. It sends:

  • app lifecycle and feature-use events, such as opening the app, viewing the dashboard, requesting or completing a sync setup, using sync operations, and viewing or acting on the purchase screen;
  • coarse results and counts, such as the number of homes scanned, the number of sync pairs found, planned or created automation counts, warning counts, selected setup topology, and Boolean success or status values; and
  • technical context supplied by the PostHog SDK, including a random app-install identifier, app version and build, Apple device model or type, operating-system name and version, locale, time zone, screen dimensions, and network connection type.

HomePairs does not give PostHog your name, email address, Apple Account identifier, HomeKit names, HomeKit identifiers, or raw HomeKit content. It does not call PostHog’s identify feature to connect analytics to an account or known person.

Session replay, automatic screen capture, automatic element-interaction capture, and automatic crash capture are disabled. PostHog processes this limited analytics information as a service provider. Learn more in PostHog’s privacy policy.

Handled errors

When an operation fails and the app handles the error, HomePairs may send PostHog a sanitized report containing the operation, error domain, numeric error code, and error type. The report replaces the original description with a generic message before sending it. Raw error messages are excluded because they can contain user-assigned HomeKit names.

iCloud free-use record

HomePairs includes one free successful sync setup. To make that allowance follow you across devices and most reinstalls, the app stores one Boolean value in Apple’s iCloud key-value storage indicating whether the allowance has been used. A local copy is also kept on your device.

No HomeKit topology, accessory state, preference, profile, name, or identifier is placed in this app-owned iCloud record.

Purchases

The optional lifetime Premium Unlock is offered through Apple’s StoreKit and App Store. Apple processes payment and purchase history. HomePairs receives product information and verified entitlement status so it can unlock the app or restore a purchase.

HomePairs analytics may record that a purchase was started, completed, cancelled, or pending, and whether a restore found an unlock. It does not send StoreKit transaction identifiers, payment details, or Apple Account information to PostHog.

Who processes information

HomePairs relies on Apple for HomeKit, iCloud key-value storage, and StoreKit purchases, and on PostHog for the limited analytics and sanitized handled-error information described above. The app does not include advertising SDKs.

Your choices

You choose whether to grant Home access. You can review or revoke that access in iOS or iPadOS Settings. Without Home access, HomePairs cannot inspect or manage your Apple Home.

Deleting HomePairs removes app data stored locally on that device, including its locally stored analytics identifier. Records managed through your Apple Account, including the iCloud free-use value and App Store purchase history, may remain under Apple’s controls and policies.
